News Desk: A false social media post regarding Rs 500 note got viral. The post claimed that those notes which don’t have the green stripe near the RBI Governor’s signature but have it near the image of Mahatma Gandhi, must be taken as invalid and must not be accepted.

This untruthful announcement has created confusion.

Dismissing this fake proclamation, Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that the assertion is both phony and meaningless.

PIB noted that both types of Rs 500 banknotes published by the Reserve Bank of India are acceptable.
