Khalistani Supporters Vandalise Mahatma Gandhi’s Statue in U.S

News Desk: The sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi was debased by group of Khalistani separatists during an uproar held by Sikh-American youngsters, who are backing farmer’s protest against the farm laws in India.

A car march was held to the Indian Embassy in downtown Washington, DC. Hundreds of Sikhs residing in the Greater Washington DC area, Maryland and Virginia, along with many from other states like New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina had huddled to reflect solidarity with those farmers.

However, the protest soon turned violent after separatist Sikhs who were holding Khalistani flags with anti-India posters and banners saying “The Republic of Khalistan”, joined the demonstration.

Many pro-Khalistan Sikh youngsters holding Kirpans leaped on Mahatma Gandhi’s statute to stuck a poster. The group was putting up anti-India and pro-Khalistan sayings.

The Indian Embassy denounced this act of hooliganism.

“The statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Plaza in front of the Embassy was defaced by Khalistani elements on 12 December 2020. The Embassy strongly condemns this mischievous act by hooligans masquerading as protesters against the universally respected icon of peace and justice,” the Embassy asserted in a statement.
