News Desk: A group of people partying in a house in Malibu, California had a lucky escape after the balcony they were standing on collapsed onto rocks below.

CCTV footage shows the large group socializing outside on the balcony, which suddenly breaks off from the house and falls several feet below.

The video was actually filmed from the CCTV camera of a neighboring property and later sent to a local police station. The incident reportedly happened on May 8.

Reports said the collapse left several guests injured. Two from the group had to be treated in the hospital for critical injuries. Fortunately, no one was killed in the collapse.

A total of 15 people were on the balcony when it collapsed. According to an eyewitness, the incident could have been a lot worse if the balcony was on a higher floor.

“We heard a crack, and I literally saw all my best friends and my girlfriend fall 15-feet to the rocks. The deck just literally gave out. It could’ve been a lot worse, but it’s pretty awful,” the eyewitness told CBSLA.

The house was declared uninhabitable by fire department officials who checked the wreckage of the balcony.

Following the incident, many social media users questioned why 15 people were on the balcony at the same time during pandemic restrictions.

The owner of the house told a local news channel he had rented the property to a group of young people for the weekend. He added that he had expected only six people in attendance.

According to a CBSLA report, the owner was informed by her neighbors that her house was occupied by 30 or more people for a party. She reportedly even called the person who had rented the house in order to get the guests to leave.
