Pakatan Harapan party leader Anwar Ibrahim is the next Prime Minister of Malaysia.

After several days of post-election deadlock, he was named as the new Prime Minister on Thursday. Meanwhile, Anwar Ibrahim will take oath as the 10th Prime Minister today at 5 pm after being nominated as Prime Minister.

On Thursday, Anwar Ibrahim was nominated as the new Prime Minister of Malaysia by the country’s King Sultan Abdullah. The elections held a week ago left no single party with a single majority and the country witnessed an unprecedented hung party for the first time in its history.

After considering the views of Malaysian rulers, Anwar Ibrahim was approved by the country’s King, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, as Prime Minister of Malaysia. It is not yet clear with which party Anwar’s Pakatan Harapan party is going to power.
