The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protested the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia outside the BJP state office in Kolkata. Alleging that central agencies like CBI, ED are being used against the opposition, AAP has called for protests outside BJP offices across the country. There was a ban on the use of microphones during the Madhyamik test.
Police stopped AAP’s march just before the BJP office. AAP workers-supporters held a protest meeting there. Arnab Maitra, spokesperson of AAP in the state, said, “By arresting the Deputy Chief Minister of the Delhi government, the BJP has exposed the politics of revenge. AAP has caught the attention of the whole country by creating a model education system, improving the quality of services. They are afraid of the popularity of Arvind Kejriwal across the country. Despite not being able to seize any document of illegal property or anything objectionable from Sisodia, the CBI arrested him on baseless charges only under Modi’s pressure.”
BJP, however, did not want to heed this protest. State BJP chief spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya’s comments, “The shameless attempt of some unknown people to identify themselves! Narendra Modi’s government will not accept anything else, under the guise of advertising honesty.”
