2 youths arrested from Raghunathganj with five firearms, ten rounds of bullets!

Police of Murshidabad’s Raghunathganj Police Station has once again achieved great success in preventing illegal arms trafficking before the upcoming panchayat elections.

Two youths were arrested by the Police of Raghunathganj Police Station while bringing illegal firearms from Munger district of Bihar and going to sell them in Umarpur of Raghunathganj.

The arrested have been identified as Abdul Zakaria Sheikh alias Akash (20) and Laltu Sheikh alias Maimul Haque (24). The house of both the accused are in Shivnagar village of Farakka Police Station.

Five sophisticated indigenous firearms and ten rounds of ammunition were recovered from the arrested youths. When the arrested youths were produced in the Jangipur court on Tuesday, the judge ordered them to be in Police custody for 6 days.

Super VG Satish Pashumarthi of Jangipur Police District held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon and said, “On Monday night, the officers of Raghunathganj Police Station received information from secret sources that two residents of Shivnagar area of ​​Farakka Police Station are coming to Umarpur to sell some firearms. According to that information, when two youths named Abdul Zakaria Sheikh and Laltu Sheikh arrived on a motorcycle at Gadaipur junction, the officers of Raghunathganj Police Station arrested them.”

The Superintendent of Police said, “Five sophisticated indigenous firearms and ten rounds of bullets were recovered after searching the bags of the arrested youths. On preliminary investigation, we have come to know that these firearms and bullets were being taken to a person in Umarpur for sale.”
