Devastating fire at phenyl factory.
A fire broke out in a phenyl factory at Palpara in Dattapukur in North 24 Parganas on Friday. Instantly, the whole area was covered in black smoke. Four fire engines went to the spot after getting the information. The fire was brought under control after about four hours of efforts.
The guards in charge of the security of the factory and the residents of the area first came to know about the fire in the early hours of the morning. The fire spread quickly due to the presence of flammable materials in the factory.
In addition to informing the fire brigade, the local residents first tried to put out the fire. But it didn’t work. Firefighters reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire. But due to the presence of flammable materials inside the factory, they had to speed up their process to control the fire.
Locals claimed that there had been two fire incidents in the phenyl factory earlier. The extent of the damage caused by Friday’s fire is under investigation. Firefighters and Police are investigating how the fire started.
