Abhishek Banerjee has been accused of violating the Code of Conduct.

A written complaint has been submitted to the State Election Commission. Allegedly, the Trinamool MP made a promise while campaigning for the Dhupaguri by-election.
Due to the death of their MLA, the by-election is being held in Dhupguri.

All India General Secretary of Trinamool campaigned in poll-bound Dhupguri on Saturday. There people raised the demand for separate subdivision before Abhishek.

In reply, Abhishek said, ‘I give my word, before December 31, Dhupguri subdivision will be done.’ After this, his statement was brought forward by BJP camp. Their complaint, how did Abhishek make such a promise in the election campaign?

According to sources, BJP leader Shishir Bajoria approached the State Election Commission alleging that Abhishek’s promise to create a separate constituency is a violation of the Code of Conduct. He was requested to take immediate action.
