Former Zimbabwean all-rounder Heath Streak passed away at the age of 49.
He had been suffering due to cancer. Streak had been seriously ill since last May. He was immediately admitted to the hospital. He died on Tuesday. He was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer.
From his teammates to current Zimbabwean cricketers, sent messages of condolence over Streak’s death. Cricketer Streak has played 65 Tests and 189 ODIs for the country. He scored 4933 runs in international cricket. He took 455 wickets. Streak made his debut on 10 November 1993 against South Africa. He retired from international cricket in 2005. He has led the country in 21 Tests and 68 ODIs.
Streak is the only Zimbabwean cricketer to have scored 1,000 runs and take 100 wickets in Tests and scored 2,000 runs and take 200 wickets in ODIs. In 2021, ICC banned him for eight years. He was involved in corruption. The 49-year-old cricketer later apologized and said he was never involved in match-fixing.
