BCCI President Sourav Ganguly is optimistic about starting the women’s IPL from 2023. On Thursday, he informed every state sports administration of the country in this regard.
Sourav highlighted some important points about the international and domestic seasons at home to the state bodies in writing. He also wrote about the women’s IPL.
Sourav wrote, ‘BCCI is working on the much anticipated women’s IPL. We hope that its first season will be done early next year. More details will be given in due course.’
In Men’s IPL once all the matches were organized in Mumbai and Pune due to the pandemic. Another time half matches had to be taken to the UAE. Sourav informed that this time the Men’s IPL will be played in the home-away format as before.
Each of the 10 participating teams have their own stadiums, so that won’t be a problem. Sourav said in the letter that Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and New Zealand will play in India. As for the women’s team, only Australia will tour India.
