On 26 November, a young man tried to commit suicide by stabbing his wife to death.The tragic incident took place in Manainagar village of Kapasia area of ​​Itahar Police Station in North] Dinajpur district. The name of the deceased is Gita Chowdhury.

Six months ago Gita Chowdhury married Sanjay Chowdhury,a migrant labourer by profession and resident of Malda’s Samsi Police Station.Last week Sanjay came to the his in-laws’ house with his wife Gita. Then Sanjay left for his home after two days.

Then day before yesterday he came to bring back his wife but was stopped his fother-in-law and mother-in-law from taking his wife home.Today when Gita was asked by her husband to return home she blatantly refused to do so and the situation escalated.

Sanjay then randomly stabbed Gita with a knife, killing her on the spot and tried to commit suicide.Sanjay’s father-in-law Premchand Chowdhury and mother-in-law Kushumita Chowdhury had gone to work on the land next to their house.On returning home they saw Gita was dead and their son-in-law was seriously injured.

Both were were taken to Itahar Primary Health Center. Doctors shifted Sanjay to Raiganj Medical College Hospital as his condition was critical.After learning about the incident, officers of Itahar police station sent the body of Gita Chowdgury to Raiganj Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
