Former linkmen of the militant group KLO have threatened to return to the militant camp if they do not get a job. The KLO Linkman Women’s (Women’s) Mancha Coordinating Committee has joined the movement again to demand permanent jobs. The protesters also demanded to the Police Superintendent of Jalpaiguri.
On Monday, protesters marched from the PWD junction in Jalpaiguri town to the District Police Superintendent’s office. Huge Police barricaded them in front of the Police Superintendent’s office.
Protesters allege that despite long-standing promises, former KLO Linkmen have not yet found permanent employment. Although about 250 people were employed, now 442 people are still not employed. Despite repeatedly informing the administration, no solution was found and that is why the protesters handed over their demands to the District Police Superintendent.
Jyotsna Roy, a former member of the KLO, threatened to take up arms again and join the militant camp if their demands were not met quickly. She said that as a former linkman of KLO, several cases are pending against them. If the demand are not fulfilled then they will start a larger movement .
