When the central government were celebrating the inauguration of the new Parliament building, the Police took stern steps on the protesting wrestlers.

Wrestlers announced their plan to protest in front of the new Parliament building on Sunday. Before that, the protestors started arguing with the Police at Jantar Mantar. Several wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia were arrested on Sunday morning.

Delhi Police registered an FIR against the protesting wrestlers who were arrested during the night. A case has been filed against them under six sections of the Indian Penal Code. Delhi Police has informed that they will not be allowed to sit in front of Jantar Mantar.

Although wrestlers Sakshi Malik has said that if they are released from where they were detained, they will protest there again. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee strongly protested the Police’s treatment of wrestlers.
