Delhi’s ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ Owner Kanta Prasad Attempts Suicide

News Desk: The owner of Delhi’s Baba ka Dhaba- Kanta Prasad, who got popular overnight after a YouTuber popularised a video of his humble diner in Malviya Nagar, tried committing suicide and was rushed to the Safdarjung hospital.

Delhi Police said, around 11.15 PM on Thursday night, they obtained evidence from Safdarjung Hospital that Kanta Prasad, age 81 years, was hospitalised.

Kanta Prasad took alcohol and sleeping pills together and fell senseless, told Kanta’s son Karan.

Police have started investigating the case.

In 2020, Kanta Prasad and his wife got famous after YouTuber Gaurav Wasan recorded a video of their small eatery and requested his followers to help the couple who were striving to earn a living.

The video went viral and many celebrities also were seen requesting Delhi residents to help Kanta Prasad. Baba ka Dhaba soon witnessed a good flow of customers.
But things turned bitter between Gaurav Wasan and Kanta Prasad, as Prasad alleged that Wasan had usurped large amount of money which their well-wishers sent after watching the video.

Later, Wasan clarified about the misunderstanding and Kanta Prasad opened a restaurant with the huge cash he obtained, but in 2021 the restaurant was forced to be closed and the couple went back to their small diner at Malviya Nagar. Soon, their situation turned grim and many assume that its despair that forced Kanta Prasad to take this drastic step.
